On-the-Lake Fireworks Display during the Suwa Festival and National Fireworks Competition(Suwa City, Nagano Prefecture)
The fireworks display held during the Suwa Festival is one of the largest in Japan, featuring various spectacles including a 30,000 shell pyrotechnic display, a 2 km long Niagara effect, and on-the-lake "Starmines". The National Fireworks Competition is held here in September.

Niigata is well-known for kite displays, including the Shirone Kite Battle in which kites face off midair. Shirone is also home to a kite museum.

This is a fantastic driving course along Niigata Prefecture's expansive coastline. Echigo Nanaura Seaside Line is particularly popular for its richly picturesque scenery featuring impressive rock formations.

Niigata Festival and Sunset Concert Oze

This summer festival in Niigata features many events uniquely characteristic of seaside towns including a parade of 20,000 dancers, a fireworks display, and a concert that is performed on the beach with the setting sun over the Sea of Japan in the background.
Oze(Katashina Village, Gunma Prefecture)
Oze is a scenic high moor at the junction of Gunma, Fukushima, and Niigata prefectures, and is also part of Nikko National Park. Visitors can enjoy a variety of flowers, including the mizubasho in early summer and the midsummer nikkokisuge, as well as beautiful autumn colors later in the year.

The huge scale and originality of the Nagaoka skyshow, the Kashiwazaki shyshow that takes place along the seaside, and the largest skyshow in Japan, the fireworks display held at Ojiya.
Tanbara Highland(Numata City, Gunma Prefecture)
Tanbara Highland is situated 1,200 m above sea level. It features a 2 km long moor and scenic beauty which varies from season to season. It is also a great spot for skiing in wintertime.
Minakami Hot Spring(Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture)
The Minakami Hot Springs is one of the most famous in Gunma alongside the hot springs in Ikaho, Kusatsu, and Shima. Located alongside the Tone River, the Minakami Hotspring offers an excellent view of Mt. Tanigawa to the north.

This park has Japan's largest handmade glass factory. Visitors can view and experience the glassmaking process, and the restaurant within the grounds serves locally brewed beer.
Onioshidashi and Asama Volcano Museum(Tsumagoi Village, Naganohara Town, Gunma Prefecture)
Onioshidashi is a huge 3 km wide, 12 km long lava field formed during the eruption of Mt. Asama in 1973, and is possibly one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Asama Volcano Museum is also located within the park.

Trekking and Mountain Climbing(Azumino City, Omachi City, Hakuba Village, Otari Village, Nagano Prefecture)
Nagano features many mountains rising above 3000 m and is Japan's major mountain tourism spot. There are varying trails that take casual hikers through some beautiful natural scenery, as well as challenging ascents for serious climbers.
Kirigamine Highland, Tateshina Highland, Kurumayama Highland, Shirakaba Highland (Suwa City, Chino City, Tateshina Town)
These highlands command a 360-degree panoramic view of the Japanese Alps, the Yasugatake Mountains, and Mt. Fuji, and offer prime spots for hang gliding in summer and skiing in winter.

Kamikochi(Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture)
This scenic valley is located about 1,500 m above sea level on the upper reaches of the Azusa River. Kamikochi is noted as one of the finest mountain tourism spots in Japan, and provides beautiful views of the Hotaka mountains from the Kappa Bridge.
